The UNEP en.lighten initiative is pleased to assume responsibility for the lites.asia Secretariat and extends an invitation to the next lites.asia meeting to be held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from 22-23 April 2014.

With support from the Australian Government, the UNEP en.lighten initiative is pleased to assume responsibility for the lites.asia Secretariat. We look forward to your continued interest and participation in lites.asia activities.

 

The UNEP en.lighten initiative provides a global platform for countries around the world to achieve a coordinated transition to energy efficient lighting. Fifty-five countries are members of the UNEP Global Efficient Lighting Partnership Programme and have agreed that the phase-out of inefficient incandescent lighting is one of the easiest ways to reduce CO2 emissions and achieve significant energy and financial savings.

Ninth lites.asia meeting to be held 22 - 23 April 2014, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

 

The ninth lites.asia meeting will be held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from 22 - 23 April 2014. The timing was chosen to coincide with the Conference on Lighting Quality and Energy Efficiency hosted by the International Commission on Illumination (CIE) from the 23 - 26 April 2014. This conference will feature some of the latest scientific developments within the lighting industry and will be the biggest conference of its kind in the region.

 

The lites.asia meeting will include important topics such as: 

  • Strengthening the policy and technical framework for monitoring, verification and enforcement activities in Southeast Asia and the Pacific;
  • Latest information on lighting standards and labelling;
  • Developing a National or Regional Efficient Lighting Strategy;
  • Monitoring, verification and enforcement infrastructure in Southeast Asia and
  • the Pacific;
  • Off-grid lighting testing and laboratory certification;
  • IEC Technical Committee 34 updates.

There is no fee to attend the lites.asia meeting, however participants are responsible for their own travel and accommodation expenses.
